August, 1969: most remember it as the “Summer of Love”, but for the people of Halifax/Dartmouth and our nation’s best young athletes, it was the Summer of Love for Sport!

The first Canada Summer Games were held in Halifax/Dartmouth in 1969. Records were set, goals were realized and new dreams took flight.  The impact is still felt in the ’69 Games venues - like Centennial Pool, Huskies Stadium and Lake Banook.

On this 40th anniversary, take a trip back in time with our “virtual flashback” of photos, stories, and videos that capture the glory of the 1969 Canada Summer Games.

We’re celebrating the past and looking to the future!
