National Artist Program
The Canada Games National Artist Program (NAP) brings together bright and talented young artists from each province and territory, representing a variety of discipline. The artists are challenged, under the guidance of facilitators, to interpret the Games theme and experience individually and collectively through their art.
The artists then share the results of these explorations with other artists, with Games athletes and with the public – they will put on a show during the Games that is sure to be a sell-out.
Festivals
The Canada Games are about much more than sport. An extensive festival program will offer athletes, family, visitors, and guests the chance to experience the tremendous geographical diversity of Nova Scotia – a diversity that has played a pivotal role in shaping the people of the region.
From the magnificent port that has been front and centre over the course of two world wars, to beautiful seaside beaches and the dramatic forested and rocky coastlines, visitors will have a chance to experience the environment that has helped shape this region’s history and culture.
Talented artists and artisans from the area, including representatives of the Mi’kmaq, Acadian, and African Nova Scotian communities, will accentuate events and performances. Performances, artwork, exhibits, demonstrations, and events will feature a wide range of interests from the traditional to the cutting edge.
The Host Society will work with galleries and organizations to feature special exhibits and events. Children and youth will be encouraged to participate in Canada Games events including exhibits, activities, and performances leading up to and during the Games.
