It was with pride and joy that I competed in the first Canada Summer Games in Track and Field. I ran the 100-metre race and made it to the quarter-finals and semi-finals. I also won a bronze medal in the 4 x 100 metres relay. The year 1969 will be forever etched in my memory. I was given a wonderful opportunity.
Tell us about yourself
I was 19 years old at the time of the first summer games. I am now retired at age 59, following a career in physical education which suited me very well. Today, my favourite sport is golf and I also play tennis. I try to keep in shape and maintain my health.
What will you bring to the Halifax 2011 Canada Games?
To the Games, I shall bring the watchful eye of a trailblazer. All that was accomplished in 1969 must serve a purpose. If I believed in the Games, then others must have as well. I take great pleasure in knowing that others are following in our footsteps.
