Administrative Support
Venue Administrator/Associate - This role will provide administrative support and services for each Venue Operations office. This role will be responsible for reception, file management, customer service and ensuring the smooth operation for each Venue Operations office.
Venue Teams
Coordinator, Venue Team Representatives - This role supervises Venue Team Representatives in their home division/functional area, and serves as the communication link between the Representatives and their home division/functional area. This role assists the Venue Team Representatives with scheduling, troubleshooting, and venue-driven issues.
Venue Team Representative -This role will represent their respective functional area on the Venue Team (V-Team) for an assigned venue, leading up to and during the Games, working closely with volunteers and staff at the Host Society. The V-Team Rep will liaise and share communication between the V-Team, their functional area and staff.
Athlete’s Village Operations Team
Athlete’s Centre Coat Check Clerk - This role provides storage and security for athletes’ and coaches’ gear (coats, backpacks) while they are in the Athlete’s Centre. The Athlete’s Centre will include the entertainment area, computer area, and cafeteria.
Athlete Entertainment Assistant - This role will help execute evening entertainment events for the Athlete’s Village during the Games. This may involve helping with set up, tear down, crowd control and similar tasks.
Athlete’s Village Runner - This role provides a courier-like service by foot to ensure the movement of papers, small items and minor equipment throughout the Athlete’s Village. This role responds to requests for courier service to/from various groups and will interact with a wide variety of stakeholders.
Customer Service Representative - This role responds to questions from athletes, coaches, mission staff and volunteers at the information desk in the Athlete’s Centre (the Athlete’s Centre includes the entertainment area, computer area, cafeteria and information desk) and in the Operations Centre.
Equipment Clerk - This role will oversee the equipment storage area, ensuring that teams can find their designated equipment lockups and assisting with equipment if required. The Clerk will also ensure the smooth and secure flow of persons entering the storage area by checking team accreditation for persons entering equipment storage and repair area.
Guest Services Representative - This role will greet athletes and answer their questions as required. This role will check-in and check-out athletes at the Village, ensuring they are placed in the appropriate rooms and all incidentals are paid for.
Hall Monitor - This role will check athlete accreditation to ensure that only athletes are in the designated areas, and will answer questions about accommodations.
Athlete’s Village Operations Team Leads
Coat Check Team Lead - This role is responsible for scheduling and supervising of the Coat Check volunteers. They will ensure that rules are being followed and will be available to answer questions that may arise.
Customer Service Team Lead - This role is responsible for scheduling and supervising the Customer Service volunteers, including answering questions and providing information to athletes, coaches, Mission staff, and volunteers.
Entertainment Team Lead - This role will work directly with the Entertainment Co-Chairs to plan and manage entertainment for the Athletes’ Village in the weeks and months leading up to and during the Games. This may include on-site supervision for evening events or for ongoing Village recreation options.
Entertainment Room Supervisor - This role provides supervision to the rooms being used for ongoing Athlete Entertainment activities (media rooms, computer labs, etc.). They will ensure the proper use of equipment, ensure that rules are being followed and will be available to answer questions that may arise.
Equipment Supervisor - This role will ensure there is a system in place to distribute equipment to athletes, maintain a database for all athlete equipment, and develop and provide a check-in/check-out sheet for athlete’s equipment. The Equipment Supervisor will supervise the Equipment Clerk.
Operations Centre Team Lead - This role is responsible for scheduling and supervising the volunteers in the Operations Centre, which acts as the hub of the venue and offers administrative support to the all the functional areas.
Athletic Therapists
Athletic Therapist - This role responds to field of play injuries at all sport venues, providing on-field and sideline care of participants. The Athletic Therapist will also assess and treat injuries in the poly-clinic, and provide prophylactic and reinforcement taping when clinically indicated. They also ensure that therapy bags are stocked and therapy equipment/modalities are in working order.
Chaperones
Doping Control Chaperone - This role is responsible for athlete notification and chaperoning for the purpose of doping control. Chaperones should be available for training with the Doping Control Officer at least one hour prior to the start of testing. Chaperones must be the same gender as the athletes to be tested and may be requested to witness the passing of a urine sample. All Chaperones should meet the following criteria:
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must not have any perceived or actual conflict of interest with the sport and/or athletes who are involved in the sport.
Chiropractors
Chiropractor - This role will examine, diagnose, and provide care in a multimodal conservative treatment approach which can include one or more of the following: manipulation, mobilization, soft tissue therapies and other related approaches.
Coaches’ Lounge Team
Lounge Host/Hostess - This role provides hospitality services to Coaches/Managers and ensures the lounge is adequately supplied and kept clean and organized. This role will serve drinks (including mixing cocktails and serving wine and beer), prepare and replenish food trays, bus tables, order and maintain liquor and bar supplies and respond to guest inquiries regarding local attractions, restaurants in the area, etc. Applicants must be 19 years of age or older as of February 1, 2011 in order to perform this role.
Food Services Team
Busser - This role provides services in the cafeteria to ensure that the dining area is kept clean. This will include removing plates and waste to the appropriate area, cleaning and sanitizing the tables, and ensuring that the dining area is ready for the next influx of diners.
Custodian - This role will be responsible for general upkeep of the cafeteria including sweeping/vacuuming the floor, garbage removal from the dining area to the appropriate collection location, and ensuring that the dining area is ready for the next influx of diners.
Delivery Clerk - This role will assist Logistics in the loading and unloading of food on the delivery trucks (i.e. boxed lunches and hot meal service). Applicants must be able to lift a minimum of 20lbs.
Entrance Door Monitor - This role will serve two functions; to check accreditation in order to grant access to the diners and to monitor the number of people in the dining area to ensure the capacity of the dining area is not over occupancy regulations. If there is a wait to get into the dining area, the Entrance Door Monitor will have to maintain a line up at the entrance and let diners in as space becomes available.
Exit Door Monitor - This role will be responsible to make sure that food does not leave the dining hall. They will also assist the Entrance Door Monitor by informing them when diners have left so that other diners in line can be let into the dining hall during busy times.
Order Delivery Clerk - This role will assist in the acceptance and putting away of bulk food orders. Applicants must be able to lift a minimum of 20lbs.
Stocker - This role will restock cutlery, condiments, dishes and napkins in the cafeteria to ensure that the diners have access to these items when they need them. They will also ensure that the dining area is organized and ready for the next influx of diners.
Registered Dieticians
Registered Dietician - This role will oversee the nutrition information station/booth during the hours of operation of the dining hall and assist with athlete questions about appropriate food choices.
Lifeguards
Lifeguard - This role will act as a first responder for synchronized swimming events. They will provide on-site care in accordance with their training and governing body and will work with and assist the Venue Medical Team to provide medical care and/or treatment for participants. Lifeguards ensure medical supplies are stocked and equipment is in working order.
Massage Therapists
Massage Therapist - This role will provide soft tissue therapy and massage therapy in pre-event and post-event situations. They will assist in athlete cool-down and flexibility protocol, and in the healing process of muscular-skeletal injuries. They will ensure that required supplies are stocked.
Medical Support Services Team
Medical Administration Team - These roles are responsible for office administration at the Poly Clinic in the Athlete’s Village. This may include inquiries at the reception/admitting desk, ensuring intake forms of the athletes are completed, being familiar with medical software to access participant information and enter medical injury reports, organizing paperwork, filing, responding to phone inquiries, and referring inquiries to appropriate individuals.
Supplies Team - These roles are responsible for assisting with the storage, organization and distribution of medical supplies. Responsibilities include setting up supply storage areas, maintaining accurate records of incoming and outgoing supplies, organizing requested outgoing supplies, and ensuring all supplies are accounted for and secure at all times.
Medical Team Leads
Administrative Team Lead - This role is responsible for overseeing the daily medical administration tasks in the Poly Clinic and related to the Venue Medical Teams. Responsibilities also include supervising the administrative team, and assisting medical staff with administrative tasks.
Health Care Professionals and First Aid Leads - These roles are responsible for providing leadership to the professionals in their respective health care discipline (such as physicians, physiotherapists, certified athletic therapists, chiropractors, massage therapists, nurses, pharmacists, ski patrol and lifeguards). They will ensure that standards of care are being upheld within their respective profession. They will also assist with recruitment of qualified individuals and will maintain regular communication with the members of their health care profession or group who have volunteered.
Supplies Lead - This role is responsible for the organization and distribution of medical supplies. Responsibilities include supervising the Supply Team, setting up storage areas for supplies, scheduling of supply team members and coordinating the duties of the Supply Team.
Nurses
Nurse - This role will provide appropriate care for all participants, responding to any medical incidents and providing care in accordance with Scope of Practice. Nurses will assist with participant intake at the Poly Clinic and Satellite Clinic. They are also responsible for operations within the Poly Clinic/Satellite Clinic Infirmaries, ensuring that medical supplies are stocked.
Pharmacists
Pharmacist - This role will ensure the list of pharmaceuticals is compiled and in stock, and ensure that drug kits (narcotics and injectibles) -- and if available, medication carts -- are stocked on a daily basis. They will also be dispensing all prescriptions and providing participants with appropriate information with respect to prescribed medications as well as over the counter medications.
Physicians
Physician - This role will be responsible for the overall health, care and well-being of all participants. Duties will include responding to field of play injuries, assessment and treatment of injuries and illness, referral for additional treatment/care, and prescription of medication. The Physicians hold the responsibility to withdraw and reinstate participants from competition. They also provide counselling regarding medications, doping control, and psychological issues. Physicians will aid in ensuring medical supplies are stocked and diagnostic equipment is in working order.
Physiotherapists
Physiotherapist - This role will respond to field of play injuries at all sport venues, proving on-field and sideline care of participants. They will also assess and treat injuries in clinic, providing prophylactic and reinforcement taping when clinically indicated. They ensure that therapy bags are stocked and therapy equipment/modalities are in working order.
Ski Patrollers
Ski Patroller - This role will be the first responders for biathlon, skiing (freestyle and alpine), and snowboarding events. They will work within Canadian Ski Patrol System guidelines to provide medical first responder care on the hill and if necessary at the venue site. The Ski Patrol team will work with, and assist the Venue Medical Team in providing care and treatment for all participants. They ensure medical supplies are stocked and rescue equipment is in good working order.
Therapy Assistants
Therapy Assistant - This role helps the Therapy Group (physiotherapists, athletic therapists, massage therapists and chiropractors) with aspects of athlete care, as directed by, and under the direction of, the therapist. This may include using ultrasound, removing electrotherapy pads, applying/removing ice packs, removing old tape, preparing an athlete for taping, assisting an athlete into a more comfortable position, accompanying an injured athlete to the cafeteria or washroom, cleaning the therapy area, retrieving and stocking supplies (including ice and laundry), etc.
Venue Teams

Media Team Leads
Media Centre Lead - This role is responsible for managing the daily operations of the Media Centre. They greet the media, provide for their care and comfort, lead daily briefings and help to coordinate athlete interviews and press conferences. This role oversees the scheduling of Media Centre volunteers, distribution of media accreditation and publications.
Photography Lead - This role supervises the volunteer photographers and their work. This role advises on volunteer scheduling, motor pool requests for photographers and access issues for both Media and volunteer photographers.
Social Media Lead - This role oversees the planning, content development and management of the Social Media Presence. This includes Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Blogging and more. This role assigns shifts and topics to blog squad volunteers and ensures quality control and cross platform consistency.
Media Relations
Media Centre Administrative Clerk - This role is responsible for administrative tasks at the Media Centre including photocopying, printing and answering the phones. They also help ensure adequate care and comfort for members of the media and media centre volunteers.
Media Centre Runners - This role provides a courier -like service to ensure the movement of papers, small items and minor equipment between the Media Centre and other venues. This role responds to requests for courier service to/from venues and will interact with various media volunteers and staff.
Media Centre Support - This role will be responsible for ensuring members of the media have what they need to tell the stories of the Games by conducting research, collecting information and providing general media support. This role ensures the Media Centre operates efficiently, helping with distribution of media accreditation and publications.
Media Venue Volunteers - This role helps implement the daily operations of their assigned venue, including the media rooms, mixed media zones, photography zones, and mascot areas. This role assists with scheduling mascot appearances and the distribution of publications.
Social Media
Online Photo Gallery Administrator - This role compiles and uploads photos as they come in from Photography Volunteers and members of the general public. They select and edit preferred photos, add keywords and titles, create Flickr sets and web galleries as needed and manages and organizes the active Games-time photo library.
Social Media Reporters - This role reports on and observes the Games, posts articles, tweets, links, videos (vlogging), photos, etc. during Games -time, following the communications and marketing social media strategies. This role interacts with a wide variety of stakeholders while attending events and interviewing participants.
Website Content Manager - This role manages the website content during Games time. This will include posting updates to the website as provided by the communications/marketing department. Does not include social media sites.
Media Services
Games Photographers - This role takes photographs at both sport and non sport events at various venues. This role will work with Online Photo Gallery Administrator to transfer files efficiently from each shift. Own photography equipment required.
Publications Editor - This role reviews text for all printed publications, making edits to spelling, grammar, and style. This role ensures documents are consistent and error-free before they go for translation.

Mascot Program
Mascot Agent - This role is responsible for receiving requests, scheduling mascot appearances, and communicating upcoming appearances to the Community Relations Coordinator. They will also be identifying possible opportunities for appearances during the Games.
Mascot Agent Assistant - This role is responsible for ensuring that all the mascot appearances run smoothly. This will include confirming mascot appearances with contact person and scheduling volunteer operators, handlers and drivers.
Mascot Driver - This role is responsible for transporting the volunteer mascot operator and handler to the designated sites using the mascot RV which will be provided by the Games.
Mascot Helper - The role travels with the mascots keeping them safe from harm and makes sure that they have necessary supplies (i.e. water). The mascot handler and the mascot operators will attend many different events pre games and throughout the 2 weeks of the Games.
Mascot Operators - This role will wear the mascot costumes and visit different tournaments, venues and festivals leading up to and including the Games. Their primary role will be to generate enthusiasm with the athletes, fans and volunteers. They will be accompanied by a helper and travel in a mascot RV.
Mascot Photographers -This role will take photos of the mascots during special appearance before and during the Games.
Mascot Runner - This role will be on stand -by in case we need someone to bring something to our mascots during a shift. May also provide assistant to the Mascot Agent Assistant with regards to scheduling and confirming mascot appearances.
Torch Relay
Torch Relay Agent - This role will assist the Community Relations Coordinator with coordinating the Torch Relay celebrations before and during the Games. They will be involved with the Halifax Torch appearance in early 2011 and the Torch lighting during the opening/closing ceremonies of the 2011 Games. Their main responsibilities will be to ensure that these events run smoothly.
Torch Relay Driver - This role will drive the Torch bearer, runners and Agent when they are not running with the Torch. They may need to be driven from one location in HRM to another.
Torch Relay Runner/Guide - This role will accompany the Torch bearer and the flame throughout the Relay to ensure that they are safe.
Announcer
Announcer - This role acts as the Master of Ceremonies for events such as the Opening and Closing ceremonies, medal presentations and the festival site, and will follow a pre -written script in both official languages.
Ceremonies Team Leads
Front of House Lead - This role will oversee the Front of House volunteers for the National Artists Program Gala including the Greeters and the Artists Needs Coordinator(s).
Medal Team Lead - This role is responsible for organizing the Athletes, Flag bearers and Medal bearers for medal presentations. They will also ensure that the podium is in place and the Canada Games song and national anthem are cued to play.
Venue Liaison - This role will work with both the production staff and the venue operator to ensure that all required elements are planned for and executed according to predetermined standards.
Front of House Team
Festival Aide - This role will assist in Festival preparations and programs, contributing to performer care and comfort and acting as a runner. This role will also be an information source for the public about times and locations of Cultural Festival events and activities and will help ensure public safety and comfort.
Festival Site Greeter - This role will welcome spectators to the venue, direct the flow of traffic within the venue and provide information to spectators. (outdoor location)
National Artists Program Greeter -This role will welcome spectators to the venue, direct the flow of traffic within the venue and provide information to spectators.
Marshall
Marshal - This role makes sure that the athletes, performers, and special guests at the opening and closing ceremonies are in place and ready to go when they are needed. Acting as a supervisor and/or chaperone for the athletes, performers and special quests, the Marshal will prepare personnel for entrance, performance and exits; ensure that required materials are available at entrances for each ceremony and ensure exits are functional.
Medal Support Services Team
Flag Bearer - This role parades into venue for the medal ceremony, carrying the Canada Games flag.
Host/Hostess: Medals - This role greets and ensures the care & comfort of the medal presenters.
Medals Assistant - This role will act as an assistant to the C&C Venue Team Rep and will help with preparations, set up and presentation of the medal ceremonies.
Medal Bearer - This role will parade into venue with a tray holding the medals, for presentation to the winners of the competition.
Production Team
Artists Needs Representative - This role will respond to artist needs, ensure their safety and comfort, and ensures that the Green Room is set up with water and snacks for artists.
Floater: Festivals - This role will offer general support and will fill in where necessary at the Festival site (outdoor location).
Floater: National Artists Program -The floater will offer general support and will fill in where necessary at the National Artists Program Gala Venue.
Loader - This role will work in conjunction with the Technical Director and Stage Crew to help the production company with load in/out of production, backline, and artist gear.
Production Assistant: Festivals - This role will assist with stage set up and preparation, managing performers backstage and in the Green Room and oversee overall stage operations.
Production Assistant: Opening and Closing Ceremonies - This role will work in conjunction with the Technical Director and the Stage Crew, and is responsible for assisting with the stage set up and preparation, managing the talent, overseeing back of house elements, coordinating stage operations and assisting with tear down and move out.
Stage Attendant - This role is positioned in the performance area of the opening and closing ceremonies to monitor the area, switch out stage equipment and props, and direct traffic flow.

IT Services Team
Help Desk Specialist - This role provides basic support for technology used during the games such as computers, radios and cell phones. Problem diagnosis and resolution is provided mainly over the phone for IT staff in the field or directly with volunteers and games staff.
Support Specialist Level II - This role provides in-depth support for one technical area during games time. The support specialist Level II provides assistance to the help desk staff as needed. The Specialist co-ordinates recovery of services with vendors or others as needed. Areas of specialty support needed include radios, network, hardware (computers, printers), and phones.
Technology Centre Specialist - This role assists with the set-up, distribution and collection of IT equipment needs for the Games. Prior to Games time, computers, radios and cell phones need to be configured, tested and distributed. During Games time, failed or damaged equipment needs to be replaced or repaired and redeployed. Following the Games, equipment needs to be collected, boxed and stored.
Venue IT Operations Team
Coordinator, IT Volunteer Support - This role provides scheduling and coordination of all IT games time volunteers. The coordinator ensures that all the times (shifts) and places (venues) where IT volunteers are needed are filled by communicating with volunteers and scheduling them for shifts.
IT Results Technician - This role provides support transferring sport results to the Canada Games web-site for verification and publishing. Technicians will be on -site at the sport events and at the main results centre.
Venue IT Support Representative - This role will provide 1st level support for IT issues at a specified sport or non-sport venue. They will use their familiarity of cell phones, radios, computers and printers to diagnose and assist other Games staff and volunteers with any information technology related issues. If required the representative will call upon 2nd level IT support available from the IT Help Desk.

Airport Operations Team
Baggage and Airport Coordinator - This role is responsible for organizing the volunteers tasked with sorting and distributing baggage and equipment for arrivals and departures, including scheduling shifts. They will work closely with the Airport Transport V-Team Lead to make sure that things run smoothly with the airport, airlines and cartage companies, in regards to loading and unloading Baggage and Equipment.
Baggage and Airport Clerk - This role is responsible for sorting and distributing Baggage and Equipment for athlete Arrivals and Departures. They will work with the Airport, Airlines and Cartage companies, in regards to loading and unloading Baggage and Equipment.
Bus Operations Team
Bus Marshal - This role provides transportation related information to Games participants, and acts as an “on-the-street” liaison between Games participants and the Bussing Operation Coordinator. In a non driving capacity, the Bus Marshals assist in the bussing of athletes and coaches when they arrive, on turnaround day, and upon departure at the end of the Games.
Bus Services Administrator - This role is responsible for providing reception and administrative support to the Bussing operations. This may include answering phones, directing incoming bussing related calls, coordinating service requests as well as routine administrative tasks.
Bus Operations Team Leads
Bus Operations Lead - This role acts as an on-street supervisor for Bus Marshals, coordinate their activities, steps in to help during high volume bussing events, and supplements Bus Marshals as needed. This role is responsible to implement the Games Bus Service User Policy and Transportation Procedures Manual.
Bus Shift Operation Supervisor - This role is responsible for liaising with the bus service providers’ management during their shift. Responding to any issues or emergencies with bus service, they also ensure that the Games Bus Service Users Policy and Transportation procedures are followed at all times.
Materials Management/Signage Team
Venue Materials Management Representative - This role will be required to work at venue sites to receive, store and control all assets that relate to Materials Management. They will also be responsible for reverse logistics to include cartage in conjunction with the main warehouse as required.
Venue Signage/Pageantry/Fabrication Representative - This role will assess the venue’s needs for way finding signage and will coordinate the instillation of all signage required for the venue. This role will also coordinate the installation of pageantry and fabrication components and will oversee the removal of all signage, fabrication and pageantry for return to the warehouse when it is no longer required.
Motor Pool and Parking Team
Motor Pool Car Hostler - This role inspects each Games vehicle at the end of each trip to ensure car is properly parked, clean and in good operating condition and will address cleanliness issues, and report mechanical issues. This role works with the Parking Coordinator to ensure key controls and parked locations (by number) of the cars at their location.
Motor Pool Driver - This role operates the Motor Pool fleet of vehicles, supplies people and materials transportation to designated Games locations.
Motor Pool Parking Representative - This role oversees the storage of the Motor Pool fleet when it is not in use and ensures that the fleet is in good working order. This person will work with the Motor Pool Car Hostler to ensure that key(s) control and parked locations (by number) are accurate for the cars at their location. This person will work closely with the Motor Pool Shift Operation Manager to fill the daily requests for vehicles.
Venue Parking Attendant - This role provides access control to parking areas, and ensures vehicles entering the venue have appropriate accreditation and/or permits. They will communicate to the public alternate parking venues and locations of off -site park and rides. They also ensure that the parking lot follows the prearranged parking and traffic flow patterns and reports any traffic issues or emergencies to the Transportation office and P&T Shift Operation Manager.
Motor Pool and Parking Team Leads
Motor Pool Shift Operation Supervisor - This role is responsible for overseeing Motor Pool reservations, dispatch, and vehicle management operations during their shift. This role will respond to emergencies and accidents involving Motor Pool and will liaise with other committees and divisions as required.
Parking & Traffic Shift Operation Supervisor - This role is responsible for the management of daily venue requirements including supervising the Venue Parking attendants and ensuring that the Transportation policies and procedures are implemented and followed at all times. This role will respond to emergencies and liaises with City Bylaw and Logistics Security as required.
Logistics Scheduling Coordinator
Scheduling Coordinator, Logistics Volunteers - This role will be responsible for scheduling logistics volunteers at a specific venue, or for the Games motor pool. They will develop, maintain, and communicate schedules to the various logistics volunteers according to the volunteer requirements of their venue. They will also assist in scheduling replacement volunteers when needed. The logistics division requires one scheduler per venue as well as one for the motor pool.
Security Team
Access Control Officer - This role manages the movement of people and assets at the venues (Sport and non Sport) using the Accreditation system. This role also helps rectify safety concerns and prevents the introduction of prohibited items into the venues, while monitoring the venue and notifying the Security Venue Team rep of any issues.
Security Representative - This role collaborates closely with the Security Team Leader to implement an overall security plan for the venue. The Security Rep also ensures that heightened security is in place where and when deemed necessary. The Security Rep provides information and relays questions to the Security Team Leader at the venue, and is a resource for the security volunteers at the venue.
Security Team Leads
Security Logistics Lead - This role provides for the needs of the security teams assigned to each CWG venue. They are knowledgeable of all equipment, supplies and resources available to the Security Teams. Assisting the Operations Chiefs with the management of complex activities involving large numbers of people, this role interacts with multiple stakeholders including Venue Leaders, the Operations Chief and Security Team Leaders.
Security Operations Lead - This role is familiar with the activity plan for each sport or non-sport venue and communicates this to the security team leaders, Operations, Planning and Logistics staff. This role also oversees access control, spectator control, security of athletes and support staff, and protection of host site property at sport venues; and serves as liaison to the venue teams and the Host Society.
Security Planning Lead - This role organizes and directs all aspects related to facility coordination and security team support such as scheduling, determination of the required pieces of equipment and volunteers at each venue/site and event. This is done through collaboration with Venue Leaders, the Security Operations Chief, Security Team Leaders, and Security Reps.
Security Team Lead - This role manages the Security and Safety personnel at their designated venue (sport or non sport) including the Security Venue Team Rep and the Access Control Officers. This role works with the Security Operations Chief to implement the Security/Safety operations plan.
Venue Teams
Coordinator, Venue Team Representatives - This role supervises Venue Team Representatives in their home division/functional area, and serves as the communication link between the Representatives and their home division/functional area. This role assists the Venue Team Representatives with scheduling, troubleshooting, and venue-driven issues.
Venue Team Representative -This role will represent their respective functional area on the Venue Team (V-Team) for an assigned venue, leading up to and during the Games, working closely with volunteers and staff at the Host Society. The V-Team Rep will liaise and share communication between the V-Team, their functional area and staff.
Merchandise, Ticketing, and Sales Team
Inventory Assistant - This role is responsible for keeping track of Games merchandise and pins. Following an inventory system, this role will ensure that any discrepancies in the inventory is reported to the appropriate person.
Kiosk Setup Assistant - This role will help with the set up and tear down of Pin kiosk locations, both mobile & permanent.
Sales Assistant - This role will assist in the sale of merchandise and pins. They will deal with a large variety of stakeholders including athletes, officials, spectators and volunteers, and may be required to handle cash and credit card/debit card purchases.
Ticket Seller - This role is responsible for providing cheerful and personable client service in running the venue “box office” including cash and credit card sales, cash reconciliation, and ticket inventory control. This role will also communicate with ushers and ticket takers on seating availability.
Sponsorship Services Team
Ambush Marketing Compliance Representative - This role will monitor and coordinate ambush marketing complaints and issues that may arise, confirm the validity of the offense, take initial steps with “offenders” to rectify the matter and pass on problems to designated Friends of the Games committee members for follow-up as required.
Friends of the Games Reception Host/Hostess - This role meets, greets and screens FOG sponsors arriving at the two Games time receptions, watch over quality of food and beverage service, and assist with flow of events.
Friends of the Games Sponsor Service Centre Representative - This role will look after FOG level sponsors during the Games, help prepare and distribute FOG kits, answer questions and act as the hub of information and administrative support for the FOG volunteer committee.
Friends of the Games Sponsor Summit Host/Hostess - This role meets, greets and directs FOG participants arriving at the two pre -games time FOG sponsor summits, provides information to participants as required and provides general support for the FOG volunteer committee and summit organizers during the summit.
VIP Services Team
VIP Airport Welcome Representative - This role welcomes VIPs at the airport and connects them with their transportation to the VIP hotel. They will liaise with the motor pool to make sure that transportation to and from the airport is arranged for VIP’s.
VIP Lounge Host/Hostess - This role is responsible for greeting VIP’s, and ensures that the lounge is properly stocked and maintained, including food and drink. They will provide beverage service, local and tourist information, Games updates, and event schedules. Applicants must be 19 years of age or older as of February 1st, 2011 in order to perform this role.
VIP Usher - This role greets VIP’s, checks their accreditation badges to ensure that they are being seated in the right area, and seats them accordingly. This role will also help make sure that the VIP seating area is kept clean and orderly, and will turn in any lost items to the main lost and found centre at their venue.
VIP Welcome Centre Agent - This role welcomes VIPs to the Games, distributes VIP gift bags and registration packages, and acts as the hub of information and administrative support for VIP’s (arranging transportation, printing itineraries, providing directions etc.) They will also provide information on local and tourist sites, as well as updated sport scores, medal counts and event schedules.

Office Administration Support - This role is responsible for providing office support for the Provincial Mission Team and other government agencies that have office space at Mission Services. Duties will include photocopying, filing, answering the phone, typing, etc. Bilingual volunteers will be assigned to the New Brunswick and Quebec Mission Teams.
Mission Services Team Leader
Mission Services Team Leader - This role would be responsible for the staffing and supervision of office support volunteers assigned to the Provincial Mission Team and other government agencies that have office space at Mission Services. The leader will be responsible to liaise with their assigned Mission Team to ensure service expectations are being met. Bilingual volunteers will be assigned to the New Brunswick and Quebec Mission Teams.
Equipment Representative
Equipment Representative - This role will work with the NSO’s and the Host Society to determine what equipment is required for their respective sport. They will also assist in obtaining and monitoring the equipment.
Major Officials’ Information Desk Representative
Major Officials’ Information Desk Representative - This role provides information to Major Officials on various types of questions (Local knowledge, restaurants, transportation, directions etc). This role will require face-to-face interaction as the role will be interacting with the Officials at their hotel.
Major Officials’ Lounge Host/Hostess
Major Officials’ Lounge Host/Hostess - This role provides hospitality services to Coaches/Managers and ensures the lounge is adequately supplied and kept clean and organized. This role will serve drinks (including mixing cocktails and serving wine and beer), prepare and replenish food trays, bus tables, order and maintain liquor and bar supplies and respond to guest inquiries regarding local attractions, restaurants in the area, etc. Applicants must be 19 years of age or older as of February 1, 2011 in order to perform this role.

Results/Scheduling Representative
Results/Scheduling Representative - This role will act as the results/scheduling coordinator of the sporting events and venues that are assigned. In addition, the Sport Results/Scheduling Representative will work closely with the Sport Technical Advisor to ensure that all aspects of the Timing/Scoring of the competition (Field of Play) are coordinated with internal and external distribution of results.
Sport Results Technicians
Sport Results Technician - This role provides support verifying sport results to the Canada Games web-site for publishing. The technician is on-site at the Main Results Centre.
Sport Leads
Sport Lead - This role works with other members of the Core Venue Team, Venue Team Divisional Reps, and all SOC Reps. The Sport Leader will also liaison with the NSO of their respective sport. As a member of the Core Venue Team, the Sport Leader will collaborate with the Venue Team Leader on pre-Games and Games time planning and coordination.
Environmental Services Team
Green Team Representative - This role will be assigned to a specific sport or non-sport venue and will provide on-the-ground service to ensure that waste is properly handled at the venue. They will interact with the venue staff, athletes, coaches and the public in educating them about proper waste management practices. They will also assist with maintaining, monitoring and reporting on green programs such as recycling, composting and waste diversion.
Fit Out Team
Fit Out Labourer - This role will assist with the set up and take down of equipment, furnishings, etc., at designated sport and non sport venues.
Spectator Services
Spectator Medical - This role provides First Aid services for spectators at each sport venue
Ticket Takers - This role is responsible for collecting spectator tickets and checking the accreditation of other visitors (VIP, non-competing athletes) to the venue. They also count the number of spectators to ensure that the capacity is not exceeded in a venue.
Ushers - This role will assist spectators, VIP’s and athletes to the appropriate seating area. They also ensure that the capacity is not exceeded in a venue.
Venue Information Desk Representative - This role assists spectators on face-to-face basis providing or distributing Sport, Venue, Games or Community information and also responsible for Lost and Found.

Accreditation Clerk - This role will process, produce and distribute accreditation badges to the Games Family (VIP’s, Volunteers, Athletes, Officials, Media, etc.) prior to, and during the Games. Responding to accreditation requests and questions, this role will interact with a wide variety of stakeholders.
Orientation Team
Facilitators/Trainers - The Orientation Facilitator will be part of a dedicated team, delivering Corporate Orientation sessions to all Games time volunteers. This role will also be responsible for set up and general clean up after the sessions, and will report any concerns or unanswered questions that arise to the Orientation Committee Lead for follow up.
Recruitment Ambassador Team
Volunteer Ambassador - Ambassadors are outgoing and people-oriented who will attend various community events around Metro and surrounding areas to help spread the Games message and recruit volunteers. Training will be provided for this exciting opportunity.
Scheduling Team
Scheduling Assistant - This role will assist the Scheduling Coordinator with volunteer assignment and scheduling, including calling volunteers to confirm their schedules and making changes as necessary. This role will also help with last minute scheduling due to volunteer cancellations/illness.
Volunteer Scheduling Coordinator - This role will coordinate the assignment and scheduling process for volunteers during the two-week Games period.
Volunteer and Accreditation Team Leads
Volunteer and Accreditation Centre Lead - This role will coordinate and lead volunteers at the centre, liaising with staff to address any issues that arise.
Volunteer Lounge Supervisor - This role will be responsible for overseeing the volunteer lounge at a specific venue, ensuring that volunteer care and comfort needs are met. This may include opening and closing the lounge, stocking supplies (food & drink), general cleanliness, and access control. They will interact with volunteers and staff at the venue, and assist the Volunteer Venue Team Rep as needed.
Volunteer Centre Operations Team
Data Entry Clerk - This role will enter any paper-based application forms into the online system, and/or aid volunteers with the online application system in person at the Volunteer Centre.
Volunteer Call Centre Representative - This role provides information and answers questions from potential and registered volunteers via phone. This role will also be the main point of contact for cancellation/shift change calls from volunteers, and will work with the scheduling team on filling vacancies. This role may involve some data entry.
Volunteer Centre Office Clerk - This role will provide administrative support to the staff and volunteers at the Volunteer Centre. Duties may include providing front-line reception service, responding to inquiries, greeting and welcoming in-person visitors, word processing (preparing letters, mail-outs, etc.), photocopying and document preparation, filing, and data entry. This role will interact with a wide variety of stakeholders.
Volunteer Care and Comfort Team
Volunteer Care and Comfort Representative - This role will provide refreshments to volunteers who can’t make it to the volunteer lounge during their shift. This role will also act as a spokesperson for the volunteers, and return any feedback that they hear regarding volunteer care and comfort to the Volunteer Lounge Supervisor.
Volunteer Sign-In & Information Representative - This role is responsible for checking volunteers in and out for their shift, as well as providing them with general information about the venue. This role will also be the point of contact for the Venue Team Reps to check if all of their volunteers have arrived for a shift.
Volunteers’ Venue Runner - This role provides a courier-like service to ensure the movement of information, volunteer resources, and supplies throughout the venue related to volunteer services. This role will work closely with the Volunteer Venue team Rep and the volunteers at the venue.
