The first Canada Games curling rocks were thrown at the inaugural Games in 1967 in Quebec City. During the 2011 Games, curling will take place at the storied Mayflower Curling Club, home rink to world champion (and ’79 Canada Games alum), Colleen Jones. Female curlers will compete during week 1, while the male teams will face off in week 2 at the Mayflower.

Canada has won more world curling titles than any other nation in the world.
Scottish settlers and soldiers brought the game of curling to Canada around 1760. Unable to find proper stones, troops melted cannonballs and made their own.
The Halifax Curling Club, established in 1824, is the oldest active curling club in Canada.
