Freestyle Skiing

Sport - Freestyle Skiing

Sport Description

To air is human. To BIG AIR is Freestyle!

Freestyle has been a part of the Canada Winter Games since 1995 where the Mogul event was competed at Marmot Basin in Jasper. The Freestyle event now consists of moguls, aerials, dual moguls, and half-pipe. Freestyle will take place at Ski Wentworth during week 1.

Fun Facts

The Aerial event was so popular when introduced in Corner Brook (at the ’99 Games), the Trans-Canada highway was shut down and military had to be brought in to assist with traffic control.

Freestyle skiing has won Canada more World Cup medals than any other sport.
