Volunteer Profile

Anne James
Committee Lead, Needs & Assignment
Volunteer Division

Q: Why did you want to get involved in the games?

A: When I volunteered to get involved with the Games I knew I wanted to be part of an amazing experience.  Already, it has been a great experience.  Throughout my life, I have seen young (and older) people grow and develop as they participate in sporting activities.  Sport teaches teamwork and self-discipline but most of all it creates a circle of friends and acquaintances with whom you will always have something in common.  I want to witness firsthand the intensity of the sport and the friendship of the Games.

Q: What will you bring to the games?

A: My professional experiences in HR, operations, and planning are some of the assets I bring to the Games. A sense of humour can help too, but more importantly, I hope it is my passion and my enthusiasm that helps make these the best Games ever.

Q: What do you do when you are not volunteering for the games?

A: I am the Director of HR for Commissionaires Nova Scotia. Other volunteer activities include Chair of the Board of Directors of the Halifax Camerata Singers, (an amazing choral group), member of Parish Council for St. Clement's Parish and secretary of our parish's Society of St. Vincent de Paul.  In my spare time, I try to stay in touch with my three nieces and two nephews who I happen to believe are the greatest.  I also enjoy playing at a few sports including cycling.

Staff Profile

Peter Sullivan
Warehouse Coordinator

Who's who?
The Games wouldn't happen without our volunteers, and here to assist those awesome individuals are some equally awesome staff. Each edition will highlight a different Host Society staff member.

Peter Sullivan
If Peter Sullivan wasn’t already working for the Halifax Canada Games Host Society, he would surely be one of our most enthusiastic volunteers. Peter is so excited about the Canada Games coming to Halifax that when he met our CEO,  Jean-Paul Deveau, at a hockey game over a year ago he offered to be a volunteer right on the spot!

Born and raised in Halifax, Peter resides with his wife and two children in the north end of the city.  He has done a fantastic job of combining his passion for sports and Halifax through volunteering for many major sporting events: the World Men’s, Women’s and Junior Hockey Championships, the Memorial Cup, the Briar, and the Olympic Curling trials – just to name a few!

The Canada Games Host Society is proud to have Peter on staff as our Warehouse Coordinator.   If you can imagine being in charge and taking care of all the sport and non sport related equipment, asset control, plus the logistics and arrangement of everything and anything that needs to be transported, you can begin to imagine the large scope of Peter’s role with the Games.
