Hello, [Contact.First Name] !

Milestones

The 2011 Games hosted the Mission 1 Conference from Jan 19-22, inviting the Chefs de Mission from each province and territory to come to Halifax to learn about the Host Society’s progress to date, tour our venues, get a taste of our culture and provide feedback.

The Chefs de Mission are the managers for each Canada Games provincial/territorial team of athletes, coaches and managers.

Following the Mission 1 Conference, we spoke with Team BC's Chef de Mission, Ajay Patel. Ajay shares his impressions of what the 2011 Host Society will bring to the Games and gives a sneak peek of what we can expect from Team BC next winter. See the video.

One Year Countdown Celebrations,
Feb. 11-16, 2010

With one year to go… we’re bringing the fun!  The Halifax 2011 Canada Games Host Society invites you to take part in our One Year Countdown Celebration.

The celebration begins February 11, exactly one year to the Opening Ceremonies of the Games, and runs until February 16, Nova Scotia Day at the 2010 Olympics and here at home.  In honour of the countdown, Games venues will open their doors to the community, offering the chance to get active while enjoying the facilities that will host Canada's future champions.  Participants can enjoy free activities such as skating, swimming, skiing, curling, and admission to sporting events.  Meanwhile, live sport demonstrations and interactive games will pop-up at unexpected places around the Halifax Regional Municipality, encouraging passers-by to stop, watch, and take part in the fun and excitement.  Anni and Sammi, our official 2011 Games mascots, will be making special appearances at many of the festivities.

On Nova Scotia Day, a public celebration will take place in Halifax Grand Parade from noon to 1:30pm, featuring a celebrity street hockey game, live music, complementary refreshments, and large video displays.

That same day, various schools around HRM and beyond will be catching the spirit of the Canada Games by hosting a Canada Games Day. This program offers young people between the ages of four and fourteen an exciting sport and educational experience that mirrors the Canada Games experience enjoyed by Canada’s best young athletes.

For complete event details and schedule visit the Countdown page of our website.
